music plays a vital duty in nearly every film, but for these five it’s of particular consequence. nick and norah’s undying playlist michael cera has become the go-to guy for filmmakers looking to cast a romantically befuddled teen, and i have to turn he’s pretty darn good at it. whether he’s mooning over the unexcelled friend that he’s recently impregnated (juno) or harboring a forbidden affection for his cousin (arrested development), you can’t help rooting for the brief perv. this linger out he’s playing an angst ridden kid nursing a commission heart who finds himself falling for his new acquaintance norah as the two spend a hectic tenebrosity in new york city trying to turn up the location of a secret gig their favorite tie is playing. the story is only of moderate interest, but cera’s presence has me not up to par to check abroad the movie. here’s william’s attract on the trailer.beer for my horsesthe supervision-catching title comes from a toby keith song. keith is starring in and co-writing this action comedy alongside a texas deputy who has to rescue his girlfriend from a dangerous treatment lord. willie nelson puts in an appearance, apparently as a yoda-style adviser to our champion. at first i suspected something along the lines of a larry the cable guy movie, and while this is still no oscar contender, i can see where it might make during pleasant viewing once it hits dvd. i even set up myself chuckling at the “peeing in the coffee” joke despite myself.

medical technology has grown in leaps and bounds at an end the last two decades, and diseases that were some time ago untreatable can be cured with a week’s value of medication. the field of medicine has shown promising advances that should leave us presentiment stable forth condition love in the future. and yet, access to health be keen on is becoming increasingly arduous for some citizens to obtain.

Affordable health care is something we all need, and yet according to a recent report by the Michigan Department of Community Health, the percentage of adults without health insurance in Michigan has increased to 12 percent. National numbers are even higher. This data is from 2006, the most recent year available and does not even factor in any impact from the job losses Michigan experienced in the past year.

Continuing down the path of inaction on this health care crisis will only worsen Michigan’s economic troubles. Now more than ever there’s a strong need to put partisan differences aside and work together toward a comprehensive solution.

I recently sponsored a bipartisan resolution calling for Democrats and Republicans to work together on solving the health care and financial security crisis facing our state and nation. Senate Resolution 160 supports the “Divided We Fail” campaign to make improving health care accessibility and achieving greater financial security top priorities. This is an important first step in showing that legislators understand the need for affordable health care for all citizens. Over the last few weeks I teamed up with AARP to hold town hall meetings in Battle Creek, Albion, and Jackson to talk about the challenges we face as more and more Baby Boomers reach retirement age. We need to make sure a strong Social Security system will be available for future generations, and we need to prepare for the financial and health care needs of not only current aging populations, but also for our children and grandchildren. By supporting the Divided We Fail campaign, we can work on solutions to alleviate concerns about long-term financial stability.

The Divided We Fail campaign is founded on the principle that individuals, businesses, health care providers, non-profit organizations, and government must work together to find solutions to the problems of health care and financial security - personally, privately and publicly. Included in the platform are the ideas that:

my apologies also in behalf of the lateness of this congratulatory post. i was down with the flu in favour of not far from a week and a half, thus, failed to update my posts and all. and i kid you not!

So without further ado, here it is, friends!

Congratulations to Filipino pool player Ramil Gallego, aka Bebeng, for winning the third leg of the First Senate President Manny Villar Cup held at the Event Center of SM City in Marilao, Bulacan! Bebeng Gallego of the Negros Billiards Stable (NBS), owned and managed by Mr. Jonathan Sy, defeated Carlo Biado with a 11-7 score.

For those not in the know, the 41-year-old pool player from NBS is a 5x Japan Champion. Bebeng Gallego also recently won the 14-1 Championships in Japan before the historic Marialo, Bulacan Leg of the First Senate President Manny Villar Cup. He is scheduled to compete in the US Open 9-Ball Championship ( Chesapeake , Virginia , October 19-25, 2008) along with fellow NBS superstars Warren Kiamco, Lee Vann Corteza, and Ricky Zerna.

And on a side note, much thanks to my good friend, Ferdinand Arquero, aka Ferdie, for the picture! I am very much impressed with your photographs and all! Indeed, your skills as a photographer are now complete! Maraming salamat, kaibigan!

Our old pal Sarah Hepola points us to Jody Rosen’s story in Slate today about “the weekly alternative for Montgomery County” that likes to steal other folks’ stories and credit them to some dude named Mark Williams. Rosen was tipped to The Bulletin by a Slate reader who noticed that a Jimmy Buffett piece Rosen had written had later appeared in the paper under Williams’ byline. Rosen also noted that, oh, ’bout two years back, Williams also borrowed quite liberally from a McKay Brothers show preview that appeared in the Dallas Observer a month earlier.
